Why are they so short!!

Can anyone tell me why so many anime series only last for 13 or 26 episodes?

Becasue they are stories, and all sotries must end at some point... once the story being told is done you have no need to continue, when you get into the series like DBZ... you get into about 15 10 episode segments of FREAKING FILLER!!!! that have nothign to do with the character's development or overall sotry. a prime example is the DBZ Garlic Jr. Saga... my point is that I would rather watch 13 really awsome episodes, filled with charactrer development, storyline, and overall excelent attention to detail, rather than 200 crappy episodes, the only time that going so far with a series is good is when there is room for more character development, which is when you get into the really awome long series like Case Closed, Gundam Wing, Yuu Yuu Hakuso, Wolf's Rain, jsut to name a few, some anime have shorter storylines than others, and as a result are shorter, in order to avoid filler messes, yes Case Closed does have some filler, however they do work importanat character development into the 300+ eppisodes. Unlike in DBZ when garlic Jr. Saga did nothign but proove what we already knew "Gohan's a Sajyan and Sajyans are strong" (Wasn't DBZ like 500 and somethig episodes?)

The typical television season is 3 months, or 13 weeks. And most anime in Japan is shown weekly. Thus, most anime television series fit into that pattern. The most common span is two seasons (26 episodes), but there are shorter 13-episode series (like Hellsing) and longer 39-episode (like Revolutionary Girl Utena) and 52-episode (like Cyborg 009) series.

Yeah, he created Dragon Ball & Dragon Ball Z. I only have vol.1 and 2 of DBZ...I want more of 'em... ><

I know a really short anime series. FLCL, or Fooly Cooly, or Furi Kuri.

;; So many different names...but it only ran 6 episodes.

One pIEce is still going on...it won't end until they find the one piece...and they've still got a lot of the Seven Knights to defeat, plus all other odds and ends...Nope, it shouldn't be ending in a while. I hope.

hmm...Inuyasha isn't so short. It has 167 episodes/6 seasons.
