Anime Profile: Origin - Spirits of the Past

In GONZO's very first feature film, 300 years have passed since the Earth was nearly annihilated due to humanity's extensive genetic engineering on trees. Human civilization was destroyed once the trees developed consciousness, spreading fiery devastation throughout both the world and the Earth's moon.

This is the story of Agito, a young boy who lives in a fantastic, but harsh post-apocalyptic period. Forests have completely covered the Earth, and the planet is now ruled by tree-like beings known as Druids. The Druids have full control over the Earth's precious supply of water.

Agito lives with his friends and family in the city of Neutral, which exists among the ruins of the human cities of the past. It also serves as a bridge between the forest and the nation of Ragna. A struggle for power begins when Ragna plots to destroy the forest and attempt to rid the world of the mutant trees. Will Agito help bring balance back to Earth?
