Anime Profile: Stellvia of the Universe

In the year 2167, the initial shockwave of a nearby supernova creates utter catastrophe that nearly wipes out the entire population of planet Earth. In the ensuing two centuries, mankind picks itself back up and begins seeing to its continued future. Giant space stations called Foundations are established throughout the Solar System to oversee interplanetary travel and to provide a safeguard against the inevitable coming of the supernova's worst effects.

The year is now 2356, and Shima Katase has just passed her way into the Space Academy, and she embarks for the Earth-based Foundation Stellvia in pursuit of her dream: to see the universe and save the Earth from another catastrophe.

Note: Unlike most anime, Stellvia of the Universe is not adapted from a manga but is an original anime production, so there is no hard-set creator of the series. On the contrary, a manga adaptation was later produced based on the anime.
