The attack banishes him from the village because he is seen as 'unpure,' and he now must go on a quest to find the cure from the god Shishigami - also known as the Great Forest Spirit.
His journey leads him to a young girl San (known as the Princesses Mononoke), who lives with the wolves, a pack led by the goddess Moro. The film culminates with a war between the Iron Town, led by Lady Eboshi, and the spirits of the forest, and Princess Mononoke.
