Best Anime Series to Watch if You Loved Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma Posted Jul 5, 2024
Japan has one of the best foods in the world – ramen, karaage, sushi, tempura, yakitori, udon, takoyaki, onigiri, and so many more. Aside from that, they also offer one of the healthiest cuisines overall. That’s why when Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma was released, we were so excited to watch it because the manga series had good feedback. Well, the anime surely didn’t disappoint, as we were left laughing and craving our favorite Japanese foods.
If you’re like us who’s still looking for anime series like Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma, you’re in great luck. We’ve spent hours looking for the best titles and spent weeks watching them to make sure that everything we’ll recommend is really worth your time.
Just a piece of advice though, if you’re planning to binge-watch, we recommend having a fast internet connection like Dish Network Internet or other reputable internet plans. We encountered some buffering while watching some of these titles, and it was surely frustrating. Let’s start!
1. Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill
This one's a fun twist! Unlike Food Wars' intense kitchen battles, Campfire Cooking is more laid-back. It follows a regular guy who gets transported to another world, but instead of fighting monsters, he gets an incredible power: he can order anything online... from Earth. Now, that alone is pretty cool, but here's the twist: he's actually a great cook too!
Well, this only means he can take those ordinary ingredients and whip up incredible dishes, even in the wilderness. It's surely a fun story about the power of good food, cooking skills, and how it brings people together.
2. True Cooking Master Boy (Chuka ichiban)
Let's take a trip to China on this one. True Cooking Master Boy is one of the OG food anime that was loved by many worldwide. Back in the 1800s, there's a young chef named Mao who became the youngest person in history to win the Super Chef title. But instead of settling down in a fancy restaurant, he sets off on a journey across China to learn even more about cooking.
You can watch True Cooking Master Boy on Crunchyroll. Again, as we’ve mentioned earlier, having a fast internet connection is a must. If not, it may be better to look for better internet providers. For example, Metro offers a lot of deals that give you a bang for your buck while actually giving you the quality connection you need. It’s also the same for other reputable providers in the market. Just make sure to do your research.
3. Yumeiro Patissiere
Are there any Megumi Tadokoro stans out there? If you're one of the many people who liked Tadokoro-san, then you'll likely love Yumeiro Patissiere. It's all about a young girl named Ichigo who dreams of becoming a pastry chef, just like her grandma. She gets a chance to chase her dream when she's scouted by a prestigious patisserie school. It's a cute and lighthearted story about friendship, passion, and of course, making delicious desserts that look absolutely mouthwatering.
4. Restaurant to Another World
Instead of intense food wars, Restaurant to Another World is a heartwarming slice-of-life show. It’s set in a little Western restaurant in our world that, on Saturdays, becomes a portal to another world. Elves, dragons, and all sorts of creatures come to enjoy delicious human food. It's a feel-good show about the power of good food to bring people together, no matter where they're from (just like Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skills). Plus, the food looks amazing, so be warned – you might even crave a good meal after watching.
If you’re going to binge-watch this, interruptions shouldn’t be an option. If your current internet connection, it’s better to switch to better internet like Boost Infinite Plans so you can enjoy Restaurant to Another World and other anime series on this list.
5. Yakitate!! Japan
If bread has a special place in your heart, you will definitely enjoy Yakitate!! Japan. all about a young baker named Kazuma with super warm hands, perfect for bread! He sets off to become a master baker and gets into hilarious situations with wacky rivals. It’s similar to Food Wars, but with bread instead. It's a lighthearted show that will make you crave for bread for sure.
The Bottom Line
Japan is definitely a powerhouse when it comes to food shows. And since you’ve enjoyed Food Wars, we’re pretty confident that you’ll love these animes as much as we did. But keep in mind that some of these are already a bit old, so if you’re not comfortable with that kind of visual quality, that’s totally fine. Have fun!
