Such a story with a sequel has attracted quite a few fans, especially as it's perfectly written - it's the dialogue and the relationships between the characters that take these games in the first place. Trails in the Sky is not the first part of the series, but the first of the modern games, and it's the most convenient place to start, because it has little connection with the earlier ones.

Tales of Arise

The latest release in the acclaimed Tales series can be a great entry point for newcomers: the game has great graphics - the style is simply mesmerizing, the story is vivid and the gameplay is solid, and it is worth noting that there is very little grind. Thanks to all this, the series has reached a new level of popularity. Then we can get to other parts, such as Tales of Vesperia, for which the remaster was made.

Devil May Cry 5

While the most of the games presented here are JRPGs, the DMC series adds a new variety to the selection - slashers, games where you have to kill monsters in many different ways. However, it is not only for that that the series got into the selection: all of its parts are really good, they offer a hurricane-like gameplay and vivid storyline. Especially the new part can be marked out - the critics and the public accepted it very warmly.

Grandia II

The entire series can be recommended, but it is the second part that has become the most classic. Originally released for the Dreamcast platform, this JRPG has also visited the PC as an HD remaster, so the game looks good for its years. But most importantly it's the atmosphere that made it so beloved, the atmosphere of a great adventure lasting many hours, exciting and never letting go until the very end. An elaborate storyline is combined with dynamic combat system, so you won't get bored.

Chrono Trigger

One of the most outstanding JRPGs, during which the player will make a journey between six different eras and find himself in the whirlpool of amazing events. This game has hardly any equal in terms of thought-out plot, while its development was aimed at making the player feel that it is he who determines the course of events, and it has been coped with brilliantly - even the game world itself changes depending on his actions.

Muv-Luv

Another non-JRPG, this time a visual novel. The genre has long been popular in Japan, but hardly anyone outside of Japan has played visual novels before. Things have been changing more and more in recent years, so it's time to get to know the classics - Muv-Luv is considered the best of the genre. The game relies on story even more than the usual JRPG, and that's the main thing to know about it - all fans of a twisted and elaborate plot should try

Persona 4

Persona series differs from almost all other games of the selection with its setting: instead of fantasy with swords and magic the action takes place in modern times, however the magic didn't disappear. Persona 4 offers a combination of classic dungeon gameplay and some sort of dating simulation - you'll need to build relationships with other characters. The seemingly strange combination works just fine.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony

A visual novel, this time with quest elements. The Danganronpa series is notable for its detective component: you'll have to read and think a lot. The plot is as follows: 16 characters find themselves trapped together and have to take part in a deadly game. One by one they die, after each death the player will have to investigate the circumstances and take part in a trial - yes, it's a peculiar variation on the "mafia" theme, but very well written.

There are many more excellent anime games, this selection doesn't even include some of the legendary series. But all of them are definitely worth playing - they're sure to give you a lot of fun.
