The Most Important Anime Conventions in the World Posted May 17, 2022
The consumption and demand of anime is on the rise and anime series worldwide are in greater demand than ever before. Fans have been meeting for years at several conventions where they appear in costumes and celebrate their favorites. For several decades now, these conventions have been held not only in Japan, but also in America and Europe. In this article we present the most important anime conventions around the world and report where great fans should definitely show up.

Anime Expo
One of the largest anime conventions is held in America. About 350,000 fans gather in Anaheim every year to celebrate their common passion. The American anime convention takes place annually on the first weekend in July and lasts four days. It is organized by the non-profit Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation. The convention has been held since 1991, although in the early years it was held in San Jose until it was moved to Anaheim. Those already in Anaheim can also use the time to see other nearby attractions. These include Disney World, of course, and also The Gardens Casino, which was renovated in 2016 and expanded to 200,000 square feet where players can try their luck at various card games. However, those who can't manage to seek out local gambling there due to the manga festivities can also try out various online gambling halls from all countries from the comfort of their own homes. These are conveniently accessible via smartphone or laptop. However, with the large range of providers, it is difficult to make an informed choice. Laymen are oftentimes not sure whether an online casino can be considered reputable and safe. Comparison portals help to find a comprehensive overview of casinos and their bonuses and VIP programs, their range of games and their security. The portals are free of charge and provide a round-up with just one click. Thus, even inexperienced players can easily and quickly find, for example, the best online casinos in Canada.
Anime Japan
Of course, numerous celebrations also take place in the home country of anime. The most famous is AnimeJapan which takes place annually in Tokyo. The convention has been held since 2014 and is a fusion of the Tokyo Kokusai Anime Fair and the Anime Contents Expo which were held independently until 2013. Since merging together, the Tokyo event is held annually over two days in late March at Tokyo Big Sight and opens its doors to anyone who wants to learn more about anime, enjoy costumes and shows or find a new business opportunity through anime. There, fans will find a lot of new information about the anime world and announcements about completely new anime, new visuals, trailers, launch dates and much more. Therefore, if you want to stay up to date, you should definitely attend AnimeJapan.
Manga Comic Convention
Since 2001, the Manga-Comic Convention has been held in Germany as the comic section of the annual and well-known Leipzig Book Fair. Due to the increasing interest in manga comics, the convention has been held as a separate event since 2014 at the end of March which is attended by around 100,000 fans. For four days, the common passion of the fans is celebrated at the fair which presents numerous new releases of major publishers, offers signing sessions of the stars, shows exciting series in the anime cinema and colorful cosplayer. In addition, there are plenty of workshops around the anime world. The Manga-Comic Convention could unfortunately not take place this year due to the worldwide health situation, just like many other conventions. Hopefully this will change next year.
Japan Expo
The Japan Expo takes place annually in the French city of Villepinte. The convention has been held since 1999 and attracts 250,000 visitors to the picturesque city northeast of Paris. For four days in June, all fans gather there to celebrate Japanese culture. In addition to the large fair which presents the latest manga and video games, Japan Expo also allows fans to meet their idols. Last year, for example, Izumi Matsumoto was the guest of honor, creator of Kimagure Orange Road. The highlight of the event is the cosplay contest where participants can show the full range of their talent.
