Character Profile: Murakumo

When Murakumo first appears on the scene, he is seen destroying Aragami left and right. When asked by Kusanagi to explain his actions, Murakumo explains that he is simply purifying the herd, eliminating the impure Aragami that had strayed from the true purpose. Convinced that Murakumo is an enemy, Kusanagi attacks him. However, Murakumo has an edge. Whereas Kusanagi has seven mitama, Murakumo has eight, giving him powers and abilities Kusanagi simply can't match.

Eventually, he reveals his true intentions. With help from Kaede Kunikida, he intends to revive the god of the Aragami, Susano-oh, and use his power to wipe out all humanity and bring forth a new age ruled by the Aragami.

But Kusanagi refuses to quit, and he dogs them at every turn. The last straw, however, doesn't come from Kusanagi, but from Kaede, when she reveals that the intentions of Murakumo and Susano-oh don't coincide. A lot of ugly secrets are going to come out on the heels of that revelation.
