Character Description: Lief
Lief is a 16-year-old boy, born of Anna and the blacksmith, Jarred. He is a smart, agile, brave, yet cocky fellow, who is not afraid of the Shadow Lord's minions, the Grey Guards. He often wonders why everyone else lives in fear of the Guards, as he does not himself. He causes quite the trouble for them at the start of the series.
When he returns home, Anna and Jarred sense the Grey Guards' anger overflowing, and they reveal their most deepest secret: Their possession of the Belt of Deltora! But the belt is without its seven gems, and this is where Lief's adventure begins. With his companion and recent bodyguard, Barda, the young man sets out on his quest to find the lost treasures.
