Character Description: Dragon Ball
Gohan is the adopted Grandpa of Kakarot. We are told later that Kakarot killed him by smashing him in Oozaru form. Gohan was later seen in the Baba Tournament. After the fight with his grandson and showing Kakarot who he really was (since his face was hidden behind a rabit mask), Gohan left to the afterlife. He later appears when Kakarot was a teenager, but this scene apears only in the filler.

Granpa Gohan NEVER appeared in the manga during the DBZ times, but we learn that Kakarot was a evil grandson to his grandpa, just like all Saiyan babies, until Kakarott fell off a cliff. Somehow that changed him into a sweet little boy.
Note: In the Bardock Special, those scenes are shown only in Bardock's vision, but when Gohan find Kakarot, the scene is different. This is rather stupid and silly, with the scene shown in the second episode of DBZ.
