The original versions (The Brothers Grimm versions)had much more violence.

In the Japanese ones, they think nothing of killing for revenge.

Anyone read the 'modern' adaptations of fairy tales (ex: Briar Rose)
I learned a lot from those books about fairy tales that Disney butchered for me.
