No. Not at all, there is an extremely valid argument against Stephanie Meyers writing in Twilight. It's not good, it's something I would expect from someone of middle school level. It has no attachment in reality in terms of the way the characters are set up. All the lines are ham handed, the plot is sugary and unrealistic. And oh. VAMPIRES DON"T [censored] SPARKLE.

Anne Rice does a much better job in this genre. And Vonnegut does an even better job writing books. There are so many writers that are better, it's sorta says something about the culture that such a crappy writer gets so much attention because she wrote about a fad.

your whole argument kinda falls apart when you mention Anne Rice, because Anne actually likes the twilight books and she also says that when it comes to vampires that there are no set rules and that each author should make their vampire traits however they want them to be.

and Vonnegut wrote Sci-Fi and Dark Comedy, they are completely different genre from twilight which is a romance. That's like comparing "Romeo and Juliet" to "Alien vs Predator" it's apples to oranges.

I don't care what Anne Rice says, the author doesn't matter, I'm talking specifically about their works, not the person or their beliefs. And in terms of actual writing, that's far more realistic, Meyer leaves too many plot holes, fills her story with inconsequential details and poor plot development, her characters are flat, the only thing she does correctly is come up with interesting ideas, but the fall completely apart when she actually writes about them.

Also you're wrong. We're not talking about which one is better, we're talking about quality here, your analogy doesn't suit the situation because the oranges are nice and ripe, and the apples are disgustingly spoiled and riddled with parasites. And no, we aren't saying which is better. He's similar to Meyer in that he's incredibly popular, and the genre he writes in is very very large, as is his type of writing common. The point I was attempting to make is that it's not hard to do.
