Would the seed and wing fans consider...

Post by Sanger Zomvolt »

Buying the Zeta Gundam Limited Edition Box set? or downloading some of the unlicensed Gundams shows (Like Turn A for instance)? Because I would really like to introduce people to the best of the Gundam saga. Shows like Turn A Gundam and Zeta Gundam are older (TAG is 1999, Zeta is 1985) and not quite as flashy as Seed and while they might not appeal to some, their storylines and character development are superb, and their battle choreography is great (done by a verteran of countless mecha anime since the 60s, Yoshiyuki Tomino). Let me just state the last line of MAHQ's review of Turn A Gundam, episode 50, written in 2002;
By Chris of MAHQ
"If after this the Gundam franchise degenerates into nothing more than a gimmick to sell model kits, at least this series stands as a testament to what Gundam can be at its best: a human story with compelling characters."
Normally I don't like reviews that much, this line perfectly states how I felt about Turn A Gundam
(Found here, http://www.mahq.net/animation/gundam/turna/tagep50.htm)
Zeta on the other hand is one of the darkest Gundam shows made. it involves a lot of tragedy and suffering, finishing with a very tragic ending.

Let TurnA be.

How can any one consider themselves a true Gundam fan if all they'll watch is Wing or Seed and disreguard the rest?

Now maybe I'm one of Gundam's more of the fanatical fans as I'll watch almost all of it. I have no intention of buying Superior Defender. But I still think the Wing and Seed fans should give the rest of it another look.

check http://www.boxtorrents.com if they have zeta, they have licensed series and movies (they also have 08th ms team, G gundam, Char's counterattack (GREATEST GUNDAM MOVIE EVER) and a bunch of others), and Turn A Gundam you can find it here http://www.animesuki.com and check under series. I don't know if you'll like it though, if you prefer flash and flair over character development and plot, I would suggest d-loading another gundam series, such as Gundam X (on anime suki). (and Turn A has a bit of nudity in the first few episodes). And most people who enjoy Turn A are those who've seen at least one Universal Century gundam series (so I probably shouldn't have put it up there...even though its my fav. series) it does have elements of all Gundam series though, UC, Wing, X, etc...

you know, the Zeta boxset is actually a very good deal. you can probably find it online for $90-100 dollars, a great deal for a total of 50 episodes. it also comes with nice thin DVD cases, several Statue/pencil sharpeners of some of the mobile suits, and also has a poster.

You forgot the Zeta set also has a small booklet that has some basic information of the people and mobile suits from Zeta. And the box art is oh so shiny. You can find at some on line stores for around $120. Which for 50 episodes is a deal when you consider most anime series cost that much but only have 26 episodes.
