Live Action Movie

I have been hearing lots and lots of rumors about the live action Evangelion movie and to put it quite plainly, some of them scare me. Ones i have heard are that Rei will be changed to "Ray" and Asuka Langly Sohryu will be changed to "Kate Rose" (quite a leap there, huh?). Another is that Daniel Radcliff, a.k.a. Harry Potter, will play Shinji! I'm afraid to see the end product. If they mess it up, many die-hard Evangelion fans are going to be pisses and start a mob. And I will be in that mob. I just thought y'all might like to know about this.

I agree wit' you, if the director hasn't seen and absorbed the series several times over it could be disaster. Evangelion is one of the most respected and well known Anime series ever, and if some European director thinks they can handle it and doesn't know exactly what they're talking about this movie could be a disaster.

I didn't hear about this, but it sounds scary...VERY, VERY SCARY.

Yes sadly but true Asuka's name apears to have been changed to Kate Rose, as many other things...its on the Director's cut DVDs...as far as i know no director has been chosen yet, budget its at about $100 million, and it apears that WETA workshop (the lord of the rings) will be responsible for the special effects....

WETA did a pretty good job with LOTR and im not too concerned when it comes to that, im sure they will do a good job with evangelion, but i just cant understand why they would go and change everything! the only reason i could think up was to make it more understandable to smaller children, or anyone for that matter, but small children shouldnt see evangelion and if people are too stupid to understand simple names (even if they are japanese) then the world has less hope than i thought.

I read in a previous copy of Anime Insider a list of the cast that is possible to be acting in the live action if it happenes. i reconised a few of the actors but can not remember their names

I only watched like the first three episodes in my anime club. It was weeeird, in a good way. THose angels are creeepy. They remind me of that god thing in Princess mOnonoke.

THAT WAS A FAKE CAST (thank god, no way I'm tolerating Daniel Radcliffe as Shinji or Hillary Duff as Asuka [I mean, Kate Rose]). The movie still has a ways to go before they even think about hiring actors. Remember, that same issue said we probably won't see the movie for at least 5 years (2010).

Hell, why don't they just wait 15 years? That way, we'll get the movie in 2015 (when Eva takes place).

And this movie WILL happen.
