re: need help making manga
There are a lot of books about how to write things out there.
A couple of lesser known manga-writing specific books are:
- How NOT to Draw Manga
- How to Break into Comics
Both can be found at Antarctic Press' shop (at antartic-press.com)
Having been a published manga writer, I can say that it's more important that the people know who you are. Get out to animae conventions in your area. (A-Kon, etc.) Meet the people you want to pitch your ideas to. Be their friends. Then they'll be more likely to publish things of yours.

Yea, It took me 4 years of meeting people, going to conventions, and the like before I got published. So far I've had 3 stories published with a 4th on the way. I had an artist that wanted to do a limited series with me, but other committments may make her back out of it.
Some animae conventions in Texas are:
- A-Kon
- Dallas Animaefest
- OniCon
There are others in Atlanta, St. Charles, Toronto, California, and Kansas City that I've heard about. I'm sure there are tons more.

Mm, that's interesting. Currently I'm rather disappointed, since somethign annoying has happened recently. I was intending to go to a speechin a museum by a famous cartoonist, yet i went there, found out the admission fee, discided to come back later, then found that they were sold out, and the fee for students in considerable less. eh. I'm going back there tommorow in hopes of finding an vacated seat, or they'll squeeze me in somehow. have no idea how likely that is.......
How long was it that you started writing, as a kid, or just those recent years?

Answers:
I started writing as a kid and kept going. It's been a very long time since then (I'd say some members on this board weren't alive when I started writing.) I've been publishing my work on my web site since 1997.
Quamp actually is a reference to a very old, obscure videogame called Necromancer IV. It was published in 1982 or thereabouts (I did say I was old according to Jessica Simpson.
) It was a text-based game like the old Zork or Enchanter series. The quamp spell was the most useless spell in the game. Casting it came back with this response: "a wispy voice says 'idiot!'"
I found that separate speeches by 'famous' cartoonists really don't give you a sense of what it's like to be inside the industry.
Another thing you can try is submitting for the AP annuals (at antartic-press.com.) Right now, they've been needing new submissions.
Next deadline, if memory serves, is January 15th, 2006.

re: need help making manga
it's just the first chapter but the main character is coming from the store with his girlfriend.after that a trail of stange events happen like the rath of god type of stuff...anyway they have just found out that this has happened around the world about 500 times in ancient times but no one new because it usually destroyed most of the sivilization but someone had confirmed every event that happened on earth and a strange book she wrote of a stange book they read the book and fond out that they are kinda the same in a wierd kinda way but hey find out that the main characters grand father is 5,000 years old he said he found the fountain of youth on an expedition but there were actually two of his grandfathers there was one called the shadow cartagropher from a different world he was more of an imp than a cartagropher this is more like 2 or 3 chapters..anyway the imp is part of the trails that they had to overcome once they found the real grandfather he tells them what has happened over the thousand years he has been on earth it seems that he made a spell book that was actually recording the events wich was actually the book they found earlier but it seems that the imp had gotten the book so his grandfather gives his life in a sense he comes back as a baby like reincarnation even though he's just regenerating but he tells the main characters girlfriend of a task she had to do if she wanted his grandson to become powerful and save the chunk of the world when the main character overhears he has a habit of ease droping thats why he asked his girl friend out but he thinks something might happen to him if they save the town from the imp it seems that the book had a seal that he found out about while they were pondering and then he became a great sage he then tested out his power on the town it seemed that the imp had oposite affects then the main charcters grandfather wich is funny in a way so when his grandfather ids healed the sage should be back but this is actually just a test if the imp wins he will be vanquished in the most horrible way possible and the main charcter dies if he did win he would be sent to school as a teacher but he won so he's a teacher at school but it really isnt gonna be alot at school so thats how far i am i thought all from my head one day like last month i think
