Where are you guys hosted? What hardware/setup? Just wondering what it would take to run this kind of high traffic site.

That's a good question. Here is the answer.
The web servers are 3 physical servers. One is a P4, 3.2ghz HT with 2gb ram running Apache and the MySQL database. Two others are P4 1.8ghz with 512mb ram running only Apache connecting to the main server via NFS. All servers are running either RedHat Enterprise 4 or rPath (we are migrating to this). These all sit behing an ipvsadm running on a shared cluster.
With that said we are in the process of redefining and optimizing the site. The site has served 160,000,000 pages since it's been create (plug about 30 images per page). This means that 4.8 billion pages and images since it was created.
The load for the primary NFS server is sometimes high (so we are trying to fix that problem). We also use about 4mbit of bandwidth a second on some occasions.
If you want to talk about some overall configurations please shoot me off a PM and I'll be happy to go into details about certain configs.

Okay, so I lied. I just added on 3 more virtual instances running rPath. I took the other rPath instance offline. This give us 4 active web servers. The web server should be running a lot better now. I need to monitor the memory but it looks like it's running better. I'm going to create another instance for MySQL later this week and see if that takes some of the load off of the good server...
