Gutts or Guts?

Just wondering.. Why people call him Gutts if his real name is Guts? Which one is his real name?

If you move your mouse over the dialouge box over Guts, you would se alternate spelling. The names can be both used for Guts, in the anime and manga.

Actually his name is Gatsu..in japanese...original name
