Kso, I'm starting to realize...

Post by Gaming Goddess »

That OttawaU accepted me on my grades. Congratulations, Jessie! Your coasting through high school earned you a high average that wooed academics into allowing you to grace their school!
It makes sense, you see, because York University also accepted me. Another academic school... But, OCAD did not, and they're just an art school, that isn't impressed by high marks.

So, what does that mean? That means I'm [censored]. Why didn't anyone say before: "Hey, Jessie. Maybe you shouldn't do that, because.. well, you know. Hey, you can always go for that history major." WHY DID NO ONE DO THAT?

I can change my major, once I get there; but my hopes are still dashed. There's no future in art for me, wtf. Why didn't I see that before? What the hell? I'd be a future housewife. Housewife? Me?

I'm not even there yet, and still I see I'm going to be a fish out of water in the visual arts.
If I love it so, why do I doubt my talent? Do I have talent? I dunno. I'm so frustrated.

At least I know I can always be an academic. Gogo. =/

Nah brew. The mountain may be taller and tougher to climb, but it doesn't mean you can't make it to the top.
Yeah, you were right about me, but can I get myself out from underneath this guilt that will crush me? in the choir, I saw our sad Messiah he was bored and tired of my laments

We've talked about it before, and while I see your point, I'm lacking something important for success (Other than hard work). I have no luck, and people don't know how important that is for where I want to go.
The most successful people in the world didn't get their just being determined, they got there because they had chances. Chances granted by lady luck.

Make your own luck, one success in a thousand failures may be the one thing that gets you where you need to be.

Fair point, I'm good at getting to know people; however people liking me... well, that's questionable.

I also have no problem at failing. If going through more failures makes you more likely to succeed then I'm good. But somehow I don't think that's a foolproof rule.

Well you know, the guy who began KFC, failed at everything. It wasn't until he was old did he actually 'succeed.'

I went through a short period like this, only my medium is music.

I just finsihed a two year long course that gave me a qualification that meant nothing to the places I wanted to go and study further - nothing.

I was devastated by it. Very frustrated.

What I decided to do was to try and get more experience and money from music over the space of a year and see how I can survive. I managed to do that and applied again to the course I wanted, and explaining my displeasure at my qualification being useless.

And I got in. I start in Sept. The added experience and jobs I did helped a create deal.

I do wonder, even today, if I will make a living from music, as it is a tough place. However, I know I can make a living. Just how brilliant a living is in doubt! :-k

If I am doing what I love, I can not think of anything more satisfying. Don't give up.

Try minoring in something like business along with your art major? I think that would help as far as qualifications...plus it could also serve as a backup plan. I don't know about other countries, but the [possibly double-dip] recession is really taking a toll on businesses in the US, so people are less likely to spend money on the arts than they normally would. I think if you're persistent enough, you can succeed.

The recession has affected the middle class the most. I think that her clientele would be mostly upper class folks.

Also, by the time she graduates we should have finished the recovery period. We're actually in the recovery period right now.

It's affected everyone, just some more than others.

Hopefully, yeah, we should be out of the recession by the time she graduates, but we can't know that for sure. Having a business minor isn't a bad idea though, whether she goes into art or history. That's not my call, though. GG knows what she likes, and she should go with it. Having a backup plan is always good though.

From what I read and hear estimates place the end at about 2012 which is in another year pretty much, giving a bit of cushion even if they're a little off.

Did you at least enjoy the program?
Congrats on getting into the course you wanted, btw.

Jadey-kins: I'll be trying to minor in history, and depending on the way things are going in the world once I'm done my 4 years, I'll see about maybe doing teacher's college.
Even though I'd be a horrible teacher, but a backup plan would be good...

Only time will tell, it's good to be flexible [mentally and physically  ] so you can take life as it comes.

Also..you'd be a hilarious teacher!!
What grade would you be hoping to get if you did something with that?
