Description: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II: The Movie
Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II: Lovers Again was released in Japan in 1992 as part of Macross' 10th Anniversary. It's considered by most people to be an alternate universe, considering it's supposed to take place after the events of Macross: Do You Remember Love?. Alternate universe or not, Macross II is a good sequel. As for the English version, it was originally released by US Renditions in 1995, but eventually it was re-released as a "movie" in 2000 by Manga Entertainment.
Macross II takes place 80 years after Macross (sometime around 2090). This is the story of Hibiki Kanzaki, a reporter for SNN (Scramble News Network), who while reporting a battle with renegade Zentraedi inadvertenly picks up Ishtar, a Zentraedi "emulator". Hibiki helps Ishtar to learn about the Earth's culture, and of course songs. Now, with the help of ace pilot Silvie Gena, Hibiki and Ishtar must brodcast to the public the Zentraedi threat that UN Spacy is trying to cover up, as well as to defend the Earth against the Zentraedi using the long-dormant Macross. As with all the other Macross shows, music plays a big part in this series, and there's also of course the famous Macross love triangle, this time between Hibiki, Silvie, and Ishtar.
