Gokurakugai is an ongoing dark-fantasy action manga by Yuto Sano, serialized in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine since March 2022 and available in English through Viz Media's MANGA Plus service. The title translates roughly to "Paradise Street" or "Paradise Town," a deeply ironic name for the lawless supernatural district in which the story takes place. It's a place where ordinary humans live alongside ayakashi and yokai, where people and animals vanish without trace, and where the line between the living and the things that prey on them is paper-thin.

Tao and Alma are partners running a small troubleshooter operation out of the heart of Gokurakugai, taking the cases other investigators refuse. Missing children, mauled bodies, unexplained disappearances — they will look into anything for the right price, and the deeper they dig, the more it becomes clear that whatever is hunting the district is bigger, hungrier, and more personal to them than they wanted to believe. Among the unsettling figures who drift through their cases is Jin Saotome, a quiet, dual-natured young man who debuts in the manga's fourth chapter and gradually emerges as one of its most enigmatic recurring characters.

The series has been a critical and commercial sleeper success, with over 1.2 million copies in circulation across its first five volumes and back-to-back placements in Japan's Next Manga Award rankings. In October 2025 an anime adaptation by Cygames Pictures, the studio behind The Summer Hikaru Died and the upcoming Kagurabachi, was officially announced; a premiere date has not yet been set.
