Character Description: Akira Toya
Akira Touya is the son of a famous Go player in Japan, Touya Kouyo. Touya started teaching Akira the game of Go when he was only two years old, and that made him a very strong player at a very young age. That fact made him unable to join any junior tournament, because his ability might crash other kids' hopes and spirit.
When Akira played against Hikaru for the first time (which was actually Sai who was playing against him), Akira found someone he could consider a rival. He got interested at 'Hikaru's' skills and on the other side, he also made Hikaru decide to be serious at Go, and to chase Akira.
Akira put the same interest at Go as much as his father did. He's a rather polite and serious person, but actually he's just an average boy at his age.
