Character Profile: Totoro

O-Totoro is a huge gray Totoro who first appeared on the scene when Mei fell into a hole in the Camphor Tree which led to O-Totoro's home... which is where she found O-Totoro fast asleep in his den. After Mei playfully annoyed the sleeping giant for few seconds she asked the creature if he was huge soot creature, and he responded by saying To...To...Ro... which led Mei to believe he was a creature called Totoro. Then she fell asleep along side O-Totoro.

O-Totoro showed up again later at a bus stop where Satsuki and Mei were waiting for their father in the rain, and that's where Satsuki gave O-Totoro an umbrella, which he happened to find was very interesting and helpful on a rainy day. After O-Totoro had some fun playing in the rain, he roared and caused the Catbus to appear, but before he got on the Catbus he gave Mei and Satsuki a gift package filled with magic seeds.

O-Totoro appeared again after that with his two smaller Totoro buddies late one evening to help make the magic seeds grow which Mei and Satsuki planted outside their house. They all go for a ride on O-Totoro's flying top. O-Totoro shows up yet again when Satsuki comes to him for help when Mei got lost, and when Satsuki asks him for help he grabs her and takes her up to the top of the Camphor Tree and roars and gets the Catbus to take Satsuki to Mei. O-Totoro shows up one last time where it shows him and his twO-Totoro companions playing magic flutes on top of the Camphor Tree at the end of the Totoro Movie.
