Character Description: Lain Iwakura
Lain Iwakura appears to be your normal 13-year old junior high school student. She's quite shy and still sticks to some childish fetishes such as donning a teddy bear jumpsuit at home. One day, Lain receives an e-mail on her Navi (powerful version of a PC) from Chisa Yomoda, a student who committed suicide a week earlier, who claims that her soul is now in the Wired. Growing interested in the e-mail, Lain asks her father for a new Navi to link to the Wired (powerful version of the Internet)to understand the relevance of the e-mail.
As Lain starts getting used to the Wired and her new Navi, her personality starts to change as she is more talkative and outgoing than she had been before. She also starts to realize that the life she's living now may not be real at all as her name is widely known throughout the Wired and well-known to a group of computer hackers called the Knights.
