Description: Spy x Family
Discover Anime @ AbsoluteAnime.comKanonIn a Cold War world of brittle peace between the nations of Westalis and Ostania, the master spy known only as "Twilight" is handed the impossible: prevent a war by getting close to a reclusive and dangerous politician, Donovan Desmond, whose only public appearances are at the elite Eden Academy parents' socials. To pull it off, Twilight must do something he has never done in a lifetime of espionage... assemble a family.
Adopting the name Loid Forger, he plucks Anya, a wide-eyed orphan with a mysterious past, from a local orphanage to play his daughter, and recruits Yor Briar, a kind but socially awkward city-hall clerk, to play his wife. What Loid doesn't know is that his new daughter is a telepath who can read every thought in his head, and his new wife is the Garden, a feared assassin codenamed Thorn Princess. Neither Yor nor Loid suspects the other's secret, but Anya knows both and is delighted, because she has always wanted parents who do cool things.
What follows is one of the warmest, funniest premises in recent anime: a fake family that becomes, against all odds, a real one. Loid plans Operation Strix in the kitchen while Yor casually demolishes a backyard punching bag; Anya pulls every trick her telepathy allows to keep her parents together because she has finally found a home. They acquire a fluffy white precognitive dog named Bond, and Anya's school rival, Damian Desmond, becomes the unwitting key to the entire mission.
Adapted by the joint forces of Wit Studio and CloverWorks under director Kazuhiro Furuhashi, the series leans on sharp comic timing, gorgeous chase choreography, and a soundtrack that swerves from spy-thriller brass to dreamy pop. Anya's exaggerated reaction faces have become some of the most-memed expressions on the internet. Beneath the gags, the show takes its emotional beats seriously: the ache of being raised without love, the quiet weight of carrying a secret no one can know.
Based on Tatsuya Endo's manga serialized in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+, Spy x Family became a global phenomenon almost overnight, with multiple TV seasons, the theatrical film Code: White (2023), and a steady stream of merchandise. For viewers who want their espionage thriller seasoned with school comedy and unexpected tenderness, the Forgers are very much worth meeting.
