Character Profile: Puu

Puu is the blue bird-like creature who hatched from the egg Yusuke received in the ordeal to win back life after his first death. He is the very creature who serves as not only a guide to Yusuke, but also a mirror reflection of his soul. Whatever ordeal Yusuke is going through, whether it be an emotional thing or a physical thing, Puu serves as an indicator to his friends.

In episode 91, after Yusuke dies again, we see Keiko trying to hold Puu while he's gloving and starting to levitate away in the air. She loses the grip and follows him floating trough the air over the city before he suddenly stops for no apparent reason. Puu then starts to glow brightly and transforms into a Giant blue bird with two tails. Puu then starts flying away to Yusuke. When Yusuke is being "reborn" Puu comes and shield him from the blast of the special forces when they try to kill Yusuke again. We then see Puu as a giant blue Phoenix, looking strikingly familiar to a swan. After some talking Yusuke and Koenma jump on Puu and fly into the Makai.

Because of Puu, being Yusuke's inner soul, he is always with Keiko whenever he can be.
