With a market that was estimated to be worth $20.47 billion in 2018 alone, the Japanese animation genre continues to grow and shows no signs of stopping. For example, did you know that in 2016 60% of the animated series in transmission belonged to this genre? And among all of them, already on a past occasion we mentioned which were the most viewed anime of the last decade. But what about this specific year?

We want to mention that this list is provided by TV Tokyo, which is one of the main anime distribution networks in the world. Founded in 1951, TV Tokyo has produced and distributed hundreds of anime series over the years. Of course, this includes some of the most popular series of all time like Naruto, Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Pokémon, Bleach, Fairy Tail, Yu-gi-oh, One Punch Man, and Seven Deadly Sins, among many others.

However, they recently released a list where the most popular anime of 2020 are mentioned. It should also be noted that these results not only take into account the profits generated in Japan, but in the entire world.

This anime is based on the manga of the same name created by Masashi Kishimoto. Its first adaptation came thanks to Studio Pierrot in 2002, showing the adventures of an orphan boy who seeks to be recognized and accepted by the other inhabitants of his village. For this he decides to become a ninja, training alongside his companions Sasuke and Sakura. This would conclude the first part in the story of Naruto, however he would be back with a second installment known as Naruto Shippuden.

Pokémon

Making its debut in 1996, Pokémon quickly became one of the most recognized series in the video game industry. A year later, the premiere of its animated adaptation would arrive, which currently has more than 1,000 episodes throughout multiple anime series, seasons and television specials. Each installment in the Pokémon series is based on one of the main games in the saga. Black Clover

This anime based on the Yūki Tabata manga is produced by Pierrot and premiered in 2017. Its story shows us the adventures of Asta, who is a young orphan and without powers in a world where magic abounds. On the other hand, his best friend named Yuno, is a prodigy in the use of magical abilities. However, this will not stop him from achieving his mission to become the next great King of the Magi. After obtaining a mysterious book of spells, Asta joins a group of magical knights to continue his training.

Yu-Gi-Oh

This creation of Kazuki Takahashi made its debut in 1996, however, it would not be until 1998 that it received its first animated adaptation. However, in the year 2000 it would achieve worldwide fame thanks to a second anime adaptation, later giving rise to new series, manga, movies, video games and of course, a collectible card game.
