Tomorrow Studios, who also worked on Netflix's failed Cowboy Bebop adaptation, is responsible for creating the One Piece TV series. So if you are a fan of the biggest pirate saga in the world, you have nothing else but to spin some reels in LasAtlantis casino while waiting for the movie.
The first season of One Piece on Netflix has finished filming, so here is all we know about the show. When it comes to long-running series, One Piece is up there with the best of them. Since the first chapter appeared in an issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on 22nd July 1997, a total of 969 chapters have been published across 95 volumes.
Over 462 million copies of One Piece have been sold, making it the best-selling manga and far outselling rivals like Dragon Ball, Golgo 13, and Naruto. With nearly $21 billion made through manga, movies, video games, and other items, One Piece is one of the highest-grossing fictional franchises ever created.
After being announced in January 2020, filming on One Piece was supposed to begin that summer in Cape Town, South Africa, specifically at the Cape Town Film Studios. Unfortunately, the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus that shut the world down forced a postponement. The showrunner, Maeda, informed viewers that filming had restarted in March 2021. The East Blue narrative from the anime and manga will be adapted into the first season of the live-action One Piece. The series is now under post-production. If the rumors are to be believed, we should see ten episodes released in mid-2023. We can't wait!
