Character Profile: Claire

Claire has been working aboard the train for a relatively short period, and she explains that her conversion into a machine body was not really her choice, so she working to earn enough to but her human body back (a rarity when put in perspective). Tetsuro acts courteously (and a bit innocently) towards Claire, and she appreciates it. When she learns of Tetsuro's misson, she begins to worry. She knows that he'll probably get killed. She tries to plead with the conductor to avoid going to Trader's Fork so Tetsuro can be spared, but the conductor couldn't do it without risking his job. This only makes her more worried.

Her worry is a sign of friendship that eventually becomes love, a love that finally moves her to make the ultimate sacrifice to save Tetsuro from Queen Promethea's final attack. She shatters and leaves behind one crystalline tear.
