Character Description: Mariko Kurama
Mariko is a diclonius like Lucy and Nana. She is Prof. Kurama's real daughter, and the only reason she is alive is because when Kurama was ordered to kill diclonius newborns, he could not bring himself to kill his own child. Also, in attempt to save her, her mother tried to stop Kurama from doing it and died of internal bleeding from an earlier medical procedure.
Because Mariko is so dangerous, she is kept locked in a special room to contain her. While Lucy has about 4 invisible arms, Mariko has about 35.
Mariko is taken out of the room for the first time in her life when she is needed to help kill Lucy. Because it is her first time walking, she is put in a wheelchair. She manages to defeat Lucy but not kill her, and Kurama finally shows her fatherly affection before he sacrifices both himself and Mariko by telling another professor to let the bomb inside Mariko explode, partly because he was supposed to kill Mariko anyway, and partly because he blamed himself for the damage she had caused.
The bomb was placed in her shortly after birth, and around episode 10 was used to get her to cooperate shortly after she left her special containment room by blowing off her right arm.
