Description: Kamisama Kiss
"Kamisama Kiss," also known as "Kamisama Hajimemashita," is a Japanese anime and manga series written and illustrated by Julietta Suzuki. The manga was serialized in the manga magazine "Hana to Yume" from 2008 to 2016, and it was later compiled into a total of 25 volumes. The anime adaptation aired in 2012, followed by a second season in 2015.
The story revolves around a high school girl named Nanami Momozono, who becomes homeless after her father accumulates a large amount of debt and abandons her. She saves a man named Mikage from a dog and, in gratitude, he offers her his home. However, Nanami soon discovers that Mikage's home is actually a rundown shrine. Mikage explains that he is a deity and gives Nanami the title of the new Earth Deity of the shrine, along with the responsibilities that come with it.
As the new deity, Nanami gains various supernatural abilities and is entrusted with taking care of the shrine and its familiar, Tomoe, a fox yokai with a mysterious past. Tomoe is initially resentful of Nanami but eventually becomes her protector and develops complex feelings for her. The series follows Nanami as she navigates her new role as a deity, deals with various supernatural beings, and embarks on adventures that involve both the human and yokai worlds.
"Kamisama Kiss" combines elements of romance, supernatural, comedy, and fantasy. It explores themes of self-discovery, friendship, and the relationships between humans and supernatural beings. The dynamic between Nanami and Tomoe, in particular, forms the heart of the series, as their interactions gradually evolve from a rocky start to a deep and meaningful connection.
The anime adaptation captures the essence of the manga and presents the story with vibrant visuals and compelling voice acting. It has been well-received by fans for its engaging characters, unique premise, and blend of humor and emotional moments.
If you enjoy supernatural romance with elements of comedy and fantasy, "Kamisama Kiss" might be a series worth checking out.
