Character Description: Buttercup
Kaoru is the major 13-year-old Japanese tomboy at her school, and she is praised for it (she had a large group of fangirls waiting for her with presents), much to her distaste. She transforms using the phrase "Powered Buttercup", and her weapon is a Daruma Otoshi hammer (think Amy Rose's Piko-Piko Hammer). She is the toughest of the Powerpuff Girls Z.
Kaoru is the Japanese counterpart for the original Powerpuff Girls' tough girl, Buttercup. Unlike her American counterpart, Kaoru has purple hair which is spiked, in which the original was flat when compared. She hates all things girly, and is very much against joining forces with Momoko and Miyako (who she believes as such), but she seems to warm up and show her feminine side as the show progresses.
In the English dub of the PPGZ, Buttercup's (not Powered Buttercup) secret identity is Buttercup (and not Kaoru Matsubara). In spite of this even her classmates cannot connect the two Buttercups as being the same person.
