Otaku Box Review: Otaku Box for May 2024
I apologize for the tardiness of this review, I was out of town when both this and the June box arrived.
While the previous two boxes contained two figures, a 1/9 scale figure and a smaller super-defomrmed figure, this box only contains a 1/9 scale figure. According to the insert, the included metal card has replaced the mini figures permanently. I'm a bit disappointed by this. Mini figures I could display around the house but I really don't know what to do with the cards, metal or otherwise. Plus, the metal card is kind of hard to see unless the light hits it at the right angle.
The 1/9 scale figure is Zero Two from Darling in the Franxx, an anime I haven't seen yet so I'm unfamiliar with the character though I have seen figurines and pictures of her. She's a sexy pink-haired lady wearing a headband with horns and a skimpy red bikini. The top isn't removable per-se but it is a separate piece from her body. That means it would be possible to cut the back strap and remove it if you're so included to have her displayed with bare breasts.
The other big item of this box is a metal water bottle. I love the black, white, and red artwork of some character from Akame Ga Kill, another anime I haven't seen yet. Seems like a good quality bottle but we have a ton of water bottles and I never use any of them. I just don't really go anywhere where I need to have a water bottle.
The t-shirt is black with a picture of Kuroka from High School DxD. Finally an anime I've seen! It's nice picture that shows a bust of Kuroka with just a bit of cleavage and surrounded by red flowers. It's a cool black, white, and red color palette... or the white is more of a very light tan. The picture is thicker than any other shirt I own but I have no idea if that makes it more durable. Only time will tell.
The wall scroll this time is of Akino, also from High School DxD, in a very skimpy maid outfit serving a cup of something. Could be tea, but the cup looks a little large for that so maybe soup? It matters not since your focus will surely be drawn Akino herself in that super short skirt and small top which both exposes her midriff and enhances her cleavage.
There is a little cloth thing included which they call a tea towel, though I thought it was a screen cleaning cloth. It features Hestia from Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, another anime I've seen! I don't really drink tea, at least not at home so I have no use for a tea towel but it does feel soft enough to use as a screen cloth.
Also included is one of those rings that attach to the back of a phone which helps with holding the phone and doubling as a stand. I don't use these but I know a lot of people do. I use wireless charging stands placed all over our house and these ring attachments don't play well with those.
Finally we have a trading card and a patch. The card is of Medusa and the patch says "Just Saiyan" with Goku's trademark hair. I'm not sure if the patch is an iron-on or if you need to sew it on.
