Digital Magazine Review: Waifu Monthly Edition 1

Waifu Monthly is a free online magazine celebrating Waifu, otherwise known as fictional anime females. The first issue consists of profiles on several anime characters that I assume are original creations just for this magazine. Or at least, I don't recognize any of them from any anime I've seen and none of the character bios include information about what anime series they appear in. There are a ton of anime I haven't seen yet

Each character is an attractive woman with a short bio description that doesn't take up more than single page. As you can imagine, they aren't able to get into much depth with these characters, but I really don't think character depth is the point here. After the bio page there are several pages of just artwork where the character is shown wearing skimpy outfits with lots of cleavage.

While the ladies certainly are a pleasure to look at, I wish there was more offered. How about doing profiles of actual ecchi anime or manga? I'd love to learn about ones or even read about ones I've already seen. I understand that there could be rights issues with preventing them from doing profiles and a photo spread of characters from actual series, but there shouldn't be any issues with just doing articles about them or the shows/books.

There will be a paid version available, though I don't yet know what that offers. I assume it will include nudity though I can't guarantee that and doubt it will anything hard core. What I'm curious about is what other types of content will be included. Will there be articles about anime, manga, ecchi, waifu, Japanese culture, or anything of that sort? I would be interested in that.

For me, magazines need to have more than just pictures to keep me interested and engaged. There needs to be some kind of substance. That being said, this is free after all and it's hard to argue against free. I don't know what the paid version is like but this one is pleasant to look at even if just for a few minutes.
