Character Description: Uonuma Usui
Usui is a blind man who wears clothes with eyes all over. He is the second best in the Juppongatana ("ten swords"). He has no hatred for the Meiji government, but he joins the Juppongatana under the condition that he could assassinate Shishio at any time, and also to reach his goal of killing a thousand people.
Usui used to be Hitokiri for the Edo Bakufu group, and he battled against Shishio during the war. He was blinded as a result, and his group members abandoned him, leaving him waiting for his own death. He developed Shin-gan ("Hearts Eye") as he tried to save his life.
