To Heart 2 is the 2005 anime adaptation of AQUAPLUS's beloved romance visual novel, the sequel to the original To Heart from 1997, and a fixture of mid-2000s slice-of-life school anime. Takaaki Kouno is an unassuming senior at a regional high school whose daily life is filled with a sprawling cast of childhood friends, classmates, and underclassmen, most of them girls whose lives orbit his more closely than he ever quite realizes.

Foremost among them is the playful, athletic Tamaki Kousaka, Takaaki's longtime best friend, alongside the gentle Konomi Yuzuhara, the spaced-out Manaka Komaki, the foreign transfer student Yuma Tonami, and a steady stream of family members, kohai, and unusual neighbors. Each of the thirteen episodes spotlights one heroine and the small everyday moments that nudge Takaaki and the girls toward a clearer understanding of what they mean to one another.

Animated by OLM, the show preserves the visual-novel structure of its source by giving each main character her own arc rather than committing to a single romantic resolution. The world of To Heart 2 has been revisited in several follow-up OVAs since the 2005 TV run, including ToHeart2 OVA (2007) and ToHeart2 ad (2008), which expand on stories the original season did not have room to tell.
