Character Profile: Optimus Prime

Everyone knows Optimus Prime as the noble leader of the Autobots, and a "Prime" symbol for all that is good and just. The RID version of Optimus may have a few differences, but he is still the same hero who is trusting, heroic and values all forms of life. (Although this tends to become a weakness sometimes.) He leads a team of Autobots assigned to protect the Planet Earth from the invading threat of the Predicons. He befriends the young boy Koji when his scientist father is kidnapped by the Predicon leader Megatron.

This version of Prime transforms into a Fire Engine. He can also link up with his trailer to use as an extra layer of battle armor and become "Super Optimus Prime" for when the going gets tough. The trailer is also used as a mobile weapons platform/communications array/recharging station. His role as a Fire Engine became a vital part of his character, as he often works with Fire fighters when not battling Predicons and Decepticons.

Later on in the series, Prime discovers that he can merge with his brother, Ultra Magnus, to become the super-powerful Omega Prime.
