Witch Hat Atelier follows Coco, a kind-hearted girl who has always been entranced by magic but believes it to be an innate gift she could never possess. Her world changes when she stumbles onto the truth that witches keep hidden: magic is not inborn at all, but drawn. Spells are created with ink and pen, as carefully rendered glyphs. After an accident tied to that forbidden knowledge, Coco is taken in as an apprentice by the gentle, mysterious witch Qifrey and welcomed into his atelier.

There, alongside Qifrey's other students, Coco begins to learn the craft of magic from the ground up, discovering both its boundless wonder and the strict, sometimes troubling rules the magical world imposes to guard its secrets. Behind the beauty lies a darker history, and Coco's relentless curiosity steadily draws her toward it.

Adapted from the acclaimed, award-winning manga by Kamome Shirahama and animated by BUG FILMS under director Ayumu Watanabe, the series is celebrated for its intricate, storybook artwork and its fresh, craft-based reimagining of how magic works.
