ID: INVADED is a TV anime series by studio NAZ that takes the detective thriller formula and spins it in an interesting sci-fi way. The show follows a talented detective named Akihito Narihisago, now disgraced, as he assists the police in solving a series of murder cases.
The most intriguing aspect is how Akihito, also known as Sakaido, infiltrates a person's identity and thoughts using a sophisticated artificial intelligence system to put together clues. Sakaido's imprisonment stemmed from the system's requirement that the user have personally killed someone, an extremely morally problematic practice.
4. Attack On Titan
In the universe of this dark fantasy anime, humanity is on the verge of extinction and is protected by three walls from the massive humanoid monsters known as Titans, who seem to eat people for no apparent reason. Assume you can survive the heartbreaking opening segment, in which the main character Eren Yeager, under horrifying circumstances, becomes an orphan.
The series is a commentary on the fragility of human life in the face of death at the hands of a force it cannot understand but has contributed to. The anime achieves this by throwing enough bloody curveballs at the viewer, and as such, Attack on Titan is more than just animated gore.
5. Dragon Ball
Whatever you may think of this series, the Dragon Ball series, which began in 1986 and is still going strong today, is the most influential anime franchise in history. Here you have a young Goku developing from a simple and innocent youngster into the fighter you all know and frustratingly love. However, in the original Dragon Ball, there is no Super Saiyan transformation or fusion dances.

After these two attempt the dark alchemy of resurrection, Alphonse's soul is bound to a suit of armor. These events set off the two on a world tour through a rich, dense steampunk fantasy setting that is action-packed and full of a cast of characters worth becoming emotionally invested in.
7. Gurren Lagann
Gurren Lagann appears to be a standard action mech anime from the outside. Fortunately, though, the animation skills of studio Gainax combined with this unique storyline to create an anime that goes beyond the surface level. The story of Gurren Lagann opens with two friends named Simon and Kamina. They are hiding from the Spiral King and his mechas on the surface by living in an underground village.
But what emerges is a story of humankind's unwavering spirit and willpower at its best that is equally heartbreaking and tremendously inspirational, with breathtaking action to match. Gurren Lagann's plot is remarkably well-paced, with raising stakes, despite the series' short 27-episode runtime.
