Character Description: Balalaika
Years before, the woman known as Balalaika was originally a paratrooper in the old Soviet Union, and is a veteran of that country's campaign in Afghanistan, where she received the severe burn scars she now wears on her face and body. She is now the leader of "Hotel Moscow", a mafia syndicate operating out of Roanapur. She is very different from most mafia bosses, mostly because she has a sense of honor. And maybe because of this is why Dutch holds her in such high regard, and as a result Balalaika is often a client of the Lagoon Company.
The men that work for Balalaika are very dedicated to her, mostly because she treats them fairly. If things get tough, she has at her disposal a personal army known as the Desantniki, who are as tough as many special forces units in some countries. Balalaika is also personally active in doing duties that other bosses would delegate to other lackeys... such as editing hard-core pornography.
