Character Description: Takuto Kira
Together with his partner Meroko Yui, Takuto Kira is a part of the shinigami team Negi Ramen, sent to collect the soul of 12-year-old Mitsuki Kouyama. He gets angry a lot and is easily embarrassed especially when he's around Mitsuki.
With his help, Mitsuki is able to transform into the 16-year-old singer Full Moon. Takuto is not a full shinigami, and he has yet to collect a single soul. For that he is teased by rival shinigami Izumi Rio.
Takuto falls in love with Mitsuki.
In both the anime and manga, Takuto attempts suicide after losing his voice due to an operation to remove a tumor. In the anime, he rides his motorcycle off of a cliff, while in the manga he jumps off of a building. In the manga, we eventually find out that the suicide attempt failed, and that he had actually been in a coma. When he awakes from the coma, he finds that his voice has returned.
