Character Profile: Lauro

A member of Section Two, Lauro was Elsa deSica's fratello, which was Italian for "sibling" but in this context means "handler". He had given Elsa's name for a park the two once walked in when they first met: Elsa deSica.

Personality-wise, Lauro kept his distance from Elsa, as well as the other handlers and cyborgs of Section Two. To him, it didn't make sense that some handlers, like Jose, would form personal relationships with the cyborgs they were charged with. To him, the cyborgs – like Elsa – were little more than objects; a part of their jobs.

However, Elsa had grown extremely fond of Lauro, and it hurt her that Lauro didn't have the same feelings for her. One night, not long after she had failed in a mission, Elsa had asked Lauro to meet her at the same park where he gave Elsa her name. It was the girl's attempt at finding out how Lauro felt about her, but she failed. Disgusted that Elsa had wasted their time, Lauro demanded that they return to the compound. Heartbroken, Elsa waited until Lauro had turned his back to her... and shot him in the head, killing him. After that was done, Elsa turned the gun to the only vulnerable spot on her body – her eye – and killed herself.
