One of Ryoko's teammates from Space Colony SM2, Hikaru looks at first to be rather sprightly and a bit weird (but then again, everyone aboard the Nadesico's a little weird). She boarded the ship when her pod crashed into the ship (it created quite a scare). Overall, though, she's a good pilot and a nice friend to know.

She's about as otaku an anime fanatic as Gai, and she hopes to publish her own underground manga [doujinshi] in her spare time. She's fascinated with machines and becomes friends with Seiya Uribatake for a while, but she breaks it up before it gets even close to intimate. After the falling out she had with her last boyfriend, she's not taking chances.
