Character Profile: Genichirou Sanada

Genichirou Sanada is a third year regular who became temporary captain as Yukimura Seiichi, who was the captain, got hospitalized in the winter due to having Guillain Barre Syndrome. He is VERY loyal to Yukimura who is also his best friend and came from a very traditional family, hence, his stern and noble attitude came with it and is skilled in kendo, shown to cut through a log covered in straw effortlessly in his family dojo.

He expects the best for himself and his teammates. If they lose, they get a slap from him. Either that or if his teammates get out of line. He combines Kendo and his tennis to make a powerful serve called 'Invisible Swing'. If someone with Motion Vision like Kikumaru, Sengoku and Ryoma tries to see through this, their eyes will hurt. Ryoma was forced to play against him with eyes closed, using his senses of hearing to compensate, as well as instinct.

In their freshman year, Tezuka bulldozed him, winning 6-1, using Pinnacle of Hard Work he acquired early before the series started, shown in the manga when he met Tezuka with Yukimura. He also got a three-way rivalry with Tezuka and Atobe but gained a new rival: Ryoma himself whom he lost to 7-6 after getting shocked that Ryoma used State of Self Actualization (without knowing he did).
