Anime Profile: Akira

Set amongst a very bleak Neo-Tokyo future, AKIRA follows the events of a young boy, Tetsuo, and his gang of biker friends. Tetsuo slowly comes to realize that he has incredible telepathic powers for he has evolutionized to an incredibly higher state of being. The government fears that Tetsuo will become a threat as did Akira, a young boy who, much like Tetsuo, had intense powers. Akira was thought to be too much a threat and was quickly killed. Tetsuo, however, slowly becomes more and more violent and will not be captured. Tetsuo talks to a few other weaker psychic children he finds, who tell him that there is a person more powerful than he, Akira! Tetsuo's friends from his old biker gang try to help him. Some try to be nice but others tell him to get serious (like the gang's leader and childhood friend, Kaneda, the guy with da kick-ass bike).

Kaneda is a a very big character in the plot along with Kay, a girl from "a rebel army". Ultimatly Kaneda will try to face off against the all powerful Tetsuo, who is searching for Akira (he doesn't know Akira's dead). Near the end, Tetsuo's power becomes too powerful for his body to contain and he could destroy Tokyo if his body doesn't stop flooding with power. In the end, the all powerful Akira is reincarnaited and saves Tokyo leaving Kaneda and Kay behind and taking Tetsuo with him onto a better place. Being very complicated storyline I highly recommend a subtitled version. It makes the plot eaiser to understand.
