Character Description: Mao
Mao is a talking cat. He wasn't always a cat, but a Contractor able to possess the bodies of animals. Once while he possessed a cat, his original body seems to have been damaged or disappeared. Either way, he could not go back to his form and was therefore stuck as the black cat we know him as. He is still able to use his Contractor powers but has eliminated the need for a payment. We see him transferring into the body of a raven once or twice during the show.
Mao is on a team with his partners Huang, Hei, and Yin. It's hard to place Mao with a particular job for the team. He usually provides as a distraction for Hei to kick some ass, but has also been used as surveillance in places Yin's specter could not go without being seen. Normally, however, he just sleeps.
Mao has a wireless link that maintains his human mind and subdues his natural cat instincts from taking over. It also serves as a way to get information from the Syndicate and other sources. The link is cut off near the end of the series, making Mao "die" and lose the last of him that was human.
He also hates the Spring because of cat mating season and constant attacks by females.
