At first he is furious that he is not in "Obelisk Blue-saurus", but when Crowler explains that Obelisk Blue is only open to members of the prep school, Tyranno rejoices that he was placed as best as he could have, considering, and happily becomes a member of "Ra Yellow-don"

Tyranno takes a quick liking to Jaden, and even stays with him in his dorm room despite his status. He also begins to think of Jaden as his big brother, which brings him to blows with Syrus who also sees Jaden this way. Eventually, Tyranno concedes the rivalry when he learns Syrus went without food or sleep for days to find Jaden when he disappeared. When they are attacked by the Society of Light, they tag team with each other and form the power of their teamwork: Super Vehicroid- Rex Union, a fusion of Syrus's Vehicroids with Tyranno's Dinos.

Tyranno was caught in a rock slide at an archaeological dig when he was young, and had a fragment of dinosaur bone lodge in his leg. He believes his Dinosaur DNA gives him strange powers. He claims it was these powers that stops Saiou Takuma from brainwashing him to become a member of the Society of Light. During his duels, his pupils also narrow.

Tyranno is rumored to play a key role in the stopping of the satellite cannon SORA at the end of Season 2.

Tyranno naturally uses a Dinosaur deck.
