Character Description: Suzaku
Suzaku is one of the gods in The Universe of the Four Gods where most of the story takes place. Suzaku has the form of a red phoenix, as well as a human form. Suzaku watches over Konan (the southern empire), where the Suzaku Seishi live. He grants Miaka, the Priestess of Suzaku (or Suzaku no Miko), three wishes once she finds all seven seishi, and summons Suzaku. That only takes about half the anime!
Suzaku has seven star constellations: Tamahome, Hotohori, Nuriko, Chichiri, Tasuki, Mitsukake, Chiriko. For each constellation there is one seishi, or "star warrior", that has a mission to protect the miko.
