Character Description: Washu Habuki
For as long as the universe existed, Washu Hakubi was the oldest of three godlike sisters known as the Chousin, the other sisters being Tsunami and Tokimi. Over 20,000 years ago, the sisters had came to an impasse on a particular problem: was it possible that someone more powerful than they existed. As a result, the sisters had went their separate ways to try to solve this problem. Washu had chose to lock away her memories and most of her powers in three red gems, then was reborn as a humanoid child, mainly to start again with a clean slate.
At a young age (in her new form), Washu had found herself as a student at the Jurai Royal Academy. During that time, she had met Naja Akara, who became her closest friend. She had also met Clay, who would prove to be her fiercest rival. It was also there she had met a Seniwan youth named Mikamo Kuramitsu. The two had fallen in love, secretly married, and had a son name Mikumo. However, because of Washu's humble upbringing, not to mention diplomatic trouble between Jurai and Seniwa, their marriage was annulled and Mikamo had left her, taking Mikumo with him. Devastated by the loss of her son, Washu had decided to take upon the appearance of a 12 year-old girl, feeling that adults care too much about status and pedigree (Mikumo, Washu's son, would later have two children, Mikami and Minami, who would later become powerful figures in the Galaxy Police, Minami the marshall of the G.P., while Mikami became the headmistress of the G.P. Academy, and for a time, Minami's granddaughter Mihoshi would enjoy fame as a great detective... before her klutziness and wild luck took over).
Washu and Dr. Clay would, years later become rivals for the director's chair of the Academy, with Clay ending up on the losing end (Clay would claim that Washu had sabotaged his chances by substituting his presentation with a porno tape). Clay ended up chairing the graduate school, but would later disappear when he became allied with Washu's sister Tokimi. Washu, during her tenure as director, was instrumental in breaking all Academy ties to Jurai, making it an independent school of learning. Washu later retired when she found out that her friend Naja Akara was killed during a pirate raid at on the Academy station on planet K-1190. Naja however saved a number of refugees, including an orphaned girl who be later known as "The Devil Princess"... Seto Kamiki Jurai.
Washu, along with her student Kagato, would settle on the planet Tolane. Working on a creature Naja had discovered, a communal creature with antimatter capabilities know as Masu, Washu combined the D.S.A. of that creature, along with a mineral life form and created Ryo-Ohki. Then with those same Masu... and D.S.A. obtained from her own ova cells, Washu had created a daughter... Ryoko. However, Kagato, with his own ambitions in mind, captured and imprisoned Washu in the alternate universe of the ship she created, the Soja, as well as enslaving Ryoko and Ryo-Ohki.
For 5,000 years, Washu would remain trapped, frozen in stasis in a huge crystal, while Kagato would use Ryoko to wreak havoc in the galaxy. But seven hundred ago, Kagato made the mistake of sending Ryoko to attack Jurai. Crown Prince Yosho would chase Ryoko off Jurai, where she was captured and imprisoned in what has become the Masaki Shrine. Also, during the attack of Jurai, Princess Sasami was mortally injured from a fall the Royal, Arboretum. Washu's other sister, Tsunami, had sensed through the royal trees of Sasami's plight and begun an assimilation process that would end when Sasami reaches adulthood, whereas she and Tsunami would become one being.
Washu was still trapped in the Soja's reversed dimension when Mihoshi accidently stumbled into the dimension and inadvertently freed her while Mihoshi was using her Control Cube to battle the serpent guards there. Washu would later heal Ryoko, who along with Ayeka and Mihoshi, went to battle Kagato. However, it was Tenchi who had ultimately destroyed Kagato (along with the Soja) with the power of the Lighthawk wings. Fascinated by Tenchi, Washu moved in with him, setting up the entrance of her lab in a closet door at the Masaki house.
Washu's lab is in fact not one lab, but five planets linked together by subspace corridors Each of these lab planets are specialized and have safeguards to prevent unwanted entry... but obviously that doesn't stop Mihoshi from entering and causing mishaps from her bungling (perhaps it is because she is related to Washu that she is able to enter).
Recently, Washu was forced to resume her Chousin form when events involving Tenchi and Tokimi's servant Z threatened to destroy all dimensions. Tenchi's powers had gone out-of-control, and the three Chousin had to contain a potential explosion. Tokimi was also attacked and choked by what Z had called 'the Counter-Actor', which in its human form resembled a demonic form of Empress Misaki.
Luckily, Tenchi was able to gain control of his powers, and calmed the counteractor before it strangled Tokimi to death. After everything was set right (Earth and much of the galaxy was destroyed by the battle before the Chousin fixed everything), the three, Washu, Tsunami and Tokimi, explained what had happened. Washu was even particularly surprised (and openly moved) by Ryoko's opinion that the Chousin may have been the product of an even-more powerful life form. However, the Chousin then reset everything to before the battle had begun, and Washu resumed her humble form as the universe's reigning genius.
Character Description: Washu Habuki
Miss Washu is crazy about science. She's been at it for many years and can POSSIBLY back up her claim of "the greatest scientific genius in the universe".
Ryoko and Ryo-ohki's co-designer (in the OVA series), she was accidentally freed from her ensorcellment by Mihoshi and decides to move in with everybody else. She is skilled at transdimensional portals, and this is how she's able to access her immense lab from the house.
Although she may seem like a cute, curious, and aloof scientist, she IS the compassionate type. She also has a lot of common sense. With 20,000 years of experience on her side, she should.
